My school's library is really advanced. All kinds of high-tech that you could imagine is employed there. However, It's not my taste. 

Today I checked my e-mail box. There was a letter from issuedesk:

"Z. Chen

Despite two previous reminder, the following item remain(s) outstanding on your reader record. Please return these items as soon as possible.

..."

What the hell~ What's wrong with my loans this time. By the way please allow me to introduce the most advanced self-check in/out system in my library.

I cannot deny the fact that it's really convenient. You find the book you want to borrow, bring it to that machine. Press botton"1" on it. Following its direction, firstly put your student card under the laser, input your PIN number; secondly place the code of book under the laser to check-out. At last, press botton"#". A receipt will be printed out from the machine. Your due date is on it. All done!That's it.

It's good, isn't it? But for me it's a sort of disaster. Usually on the way from library to my hall, I will lose that important tiny receipt. And then I have to count my fingers. day 1, day 2......When a whole week go by, it's the time for me to check-in my book.

Come on! I just borrowed one book from the library this time, and I do remember its due date. why I get this fucking letter.

I keep on reading.

What? I don't have this book at all! It should be someone who made a mistake, and send the letter to the wrong preson.  The date today is 25/11/07. I am really sorry for him/her, for he/she have to be fined heavily, maybe 6 pound. But there is my name on the letter, and I also chose that module. A bad feeling began to eat my heart little by little, and I cannot focus on what I was doing any more. "I need to make sure that this is not my book. Did Howe borrow my book? He always bring my book. " So I went to Howe's dorm.

"豪哥，你是不是向我借了一本From Old English to standard English的书?"

"没有啊~"

"你能不能找找？"

"我都说没有了......"But I insisted to search his dorm, he could do nothing to stop me.

At last beneath his damn underwear, there were a dozen of books borrowed from library. In the bottom of these books, I found one with blue cover. The title was From Old English to standard English.

"Focka yie~ what's this?"

"Mou yi si 陟哥！我mu gei de sai~"

Oh, shit! 6 pound. 90 RMB. Poor me!   

I wore a suit today. Howe was my desinger again. A dark suit, go with a brown tie and a light colour shirt, it should be nice. I didn't gel my hair this time, simply because I got up so late.

The first assignment of HR Module is to select 1 candidiates for a Emergency Ward. I'm lucky enough to work with the local students. After setting up criteria, shortlisting all the candidiates, we came to the most exciting part-face to face interview. I'm the one among the for interviewers. Due to the time clashing, I fail to be the HM seminar on time. After I just got into the class room, Luisa told me it's our turn. Oh, fock. I hadn't prepared well. I had no choice but pretending to look clam and smart. While other interviewer were asking question, it's my duty to take notes. But I just could not focus on what they were talking about, because I was worry about my part.

"Thanks, the next question is from Andy!"

"God, my turn~" I hope I didn't get red face at that time. After taking a breath, I asked the only quest that I was supposed to ask.

"Well, what kind of obstacles, personal or professional, do you think you might face in carrying out the job as Ward Administrator?" My god, the cadidate's expression was very weird while I was raising the quest. Is it because my English was so hard to be understood or I looked to be nevous. However, the truth is that he knew what I was talking and began to make an answer. I nodded from time to time, because the book said the interviewer should give some positive respond to the candidate. Yeah, all right...I kept on mechanically repeating words of this kind. while I was drawing something on my paper. It should be the notes on candidate. However at that time, I could not write English. On my paper, there were full of strange marks and curves, which were impossible for me to decode anymore. I was not clearly about what he said. But I thought a sum up for candidiate at the end would be good. " Alright, so your obstacles mainly in the field of Human resource management." But the candidate seemed to misunderstade what I said. Maybe he thought I just gave him a new question about HR management. He began to answered it again~ My god. At last, it was over. I said" thanks, the next question is from Sara." All done! I bet I was more nevous than the candidate. What a funny joke.  

Yesterday, the football match told us a truth in an ironic way: England is not qualified for the Euro 2008.

England met Croatia this time. Even a draw game would be good enough for England football team to go to Belorussia. But the god was not on their side. 

In the first half, the goal keeper made  funny mistakes. 2:0. This result is unintelligble. " Fock You!" Many hallmates swore in their Scouse accent with Vodka in hand. However, we believe that England would win back at last. Second half, in No. 17, David, he was back! Lampard penalty, goal. 2:1. David would never let his fans down. A spectacular curve passing ball flew past the defence. "Go on!" "Come on!" Everybody in the common room shouted. "Goal!" Crouch did a nice job! It's him who brought the hope back to England football team.  But a late goal by Croatia substitute combined to ensure England will miss out on Euro 2008.

This time, I have a good opportunity to see what English humour is. Self-ironic.

"England teaches the world how to play football, but sometimes he forgot how to play by himself."

Anyway, England, you are the loser this time. I cannot see you on Euro 2008. Maybe untill next time.

时间拼命赶阿。这样一晃，又一个月过去了。本人已基本适应这里的生活。这个月，四门课都有了作业。英国的作业和中国的不同，十分强调自己搜集信息的能力。更有意思的是作业贴近生活。就拿accounting为例，我们的任务是要开一个酒吧，整个作业就围绕如何说服bank manager来获得80，000英镑的贷款。大佬做事很认真，他弄出了三个statments。小弟我研究了那三个statments，也算是做了audit。现在我开始负责good lending的任务。查了很多网页，发现银行无非就关心两个问题。1，你拿钱干什么？2，你的偿还能力。说老实话，现在的银行很实际，就算你把贷款拿走杀人放火，只要你能连本带利按时还回去，他也不会反对。所以最关键的就是证明偿还能力。完成这种作业最好的办法莫过于访问大银行的网站。比如说Nat west，里面borrower一栏里有许多信息。做这类作业我第一次感受到学习和生活原来可以这么紧密地结合。

很高兴自己没选English Literature这个module。否则真的很头疼，原著可以看死人。为了过关，那些同学真乃八仙过海，各显神通。包括本地学生在内，小说自然是看不完了。干脆去utube看电影。

那个什么《格列夫游记》，听说很是很无聊的小说。我前天碰见Yun Yong,看见她手上拿一本韩文书。我很是好奇，一问才知道那是一本不知她从哪里弄来的《格列夫游记》韩文赏析。哎~他们也真无奈。

希望我能顺利渡过作业这一关。Glory to God!

OE就是Old English，也就是所谓的Anglo-Saxon。奋斗了一夜，艰难的用Oxford English Dictionary，也只不过看懂一小段话。AElfic's colloquy，实在是好难。Aelfric以使用Anglo-Saxon文明。出生在AD955，这时候大概正是 Alfred开始组织文人把大量Latin翻译成OE的时候吧。

现在想来如果我懂得德语就好了。也许就不会这么辛苦。

学习古英文后才知道英文的变化原来如此丰富。

“蜗牛慢慢爬，能登富士山。”忘了是哪位日本作家的句子了。我又何曾不是那蜗牛呢？在书海里攀爬。我的名字也许将是我命运的写照。“陟”攀登的意思。做学问这条路？！其修远兮。

明天还有好多课，时间不早了。
